Junior Hockey
Westside Wolves have an extremely popular Junior hockey program. Junior hockey commences from Year 5 and is played on a full-sized hockey pitch. There are separate boys & girls competitions with multiple ability levels in each. Grading sessions are held by age group throughout Term 1 to determine the teams. The season comprises of 14 weeks of fixtures plus finals, except for 5/6's which do not have finals. Wolves players may also be involved in various voluntary Lightning Carnivals held over the season, including the three day Bunbury Carnival.

Junior Player Skills Development at Wolves
Wolves’ Player Skills development program includes :
- Minkey Skills clinic held in the April School Holidays.
- Junior Player Skills sessions run in all school terms at Shenton Turf, including February 2025 preseason.
- Goalkeeper Specialist training – preseason skills clinic, specialist weekly goalkeeper sessions at Shenton during the season, and 5/6 Goalkeeper weekly training at Cresswell on team training days.
2025 Junior Coach Development Program
Wolves Junior Club Coach Development Program is a structured, targeted program for different levels of coaching experience. That is for:
- New coaches who have never coached previously – in particular school age and parent coaches.
- Coaches who have had some experience but need to broaden their range of skills, drills etc.
- Highly experienced coaches interested in fine tuning their coaching skills and/or developing their mentoring/leadership of junior coaches and/or participating in HockeyWA state & pathways programs.
Wolves will facilitate all our coaches in achieving Hockey Australias’ Community Coaching, Level 1 Coaching Accreditation or Level 2 Coaching Accreditation, as part of their commitment to coaching a Wolves team. For more information about Coaching click the link below.

Junior Umpiring
The Westside Wolves Junior Umpire Training Program is open to Junior players from Year 9. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for umpires of all levels to learn and develop umpiring skills from a beginner through to advanced senior level. Umpires involved in the program will receive theoretical training together with practical experience and mentoring throughout the hockey season. Westside Wolves are required to provide umpires across all junior grades, so the umpire program forms an integral and valued component of the club.
